Formation

66 Squadron first formed as a flight at Bristol on 3 June 1916 under 4 Wing. On 2 July 1916 the flight moved to Netheravon and on 30 July 1916 moved again to Filton, coming under 21 Wing and eventually expanding to squadron strength.
